Long lines and cold weather couldn't keep over 1600 fight fans away from Operation Octagon on Saturday, January 26th.  Well actually it kept a few people away since the show sold out and some people actually had to be turned away from the overflowing Prince William County Fairground.

Once they did get inside, fans were treated to 19 amateur MMA fights, including 5 title fights.  The fights were decent for a new amateur show, but the lack of experience of many of the fighters led to a lot of quick finishes.  

Recent DCMMA interviewees Kris McCray and Justin Hickey both took home belts along with their Gold Medal Grappling teammate Elder Ramos.  

The fight of the night might have actually been the sole womens fight on the card.  Brenda Juarez and Lauren Feldman fought at a frantic pace that had the fans on their feet by the end of the first round.  Feldman ended up winning via an arm bar that injured Juarez in the second, but both fighter's intensity and tenacity made them both quick fan favorites.
