Gladiator I Recap
In front of a large and enthusiastic crowd of mixed martial arts fans in Winchester, Virginia, Gladiator Fight Club held the first of many in their Gladiator fight series.  Gladiator I "Rise of the Games", sanctioned by the Global Combat Alliance and hosted by radio personality JP Flaim, proved to be a high-energy event with 14 fights featuring combatants from across the country.  

1) Russell Felton (Elite Martial Arts) vs R.C. McLamb (Smith Tae Kwon Do)
Heavyweight

R1) Felton scores an early takedown and transitions into side control.  Felton remains in dominant position eventually moving into mount.  McLamb attempts to escape but gives up his back and is pummeled until the ref steps in.

Winner: Russell Felton - TKO - 2:03 Round 1

2) Erik Florez (Highlander BJJ) vs Jacob Young (Yamasaki)
Welterweight

R1) Young takes control with an early takedown and ends up in Florez's half guard.  Florez takes a few good shots, but fights to his feet.  Unfortunately a few knees against the cage followed by a Young takedown and barrage of strikes from behind ends his night early.

Winner: Jacob Young - TKO - Round 1

3) Tyler Bowers (Gold Metal Grappling) vs Mitch Harris (Kore Kombat)
Lightweight

R1) Bowers takes Harris down quickly and moves into mount.  Harris tries to escape but Bowers takes his back and chokes him out via rear naked choke.

Winner:  Tyler Bowers - Submission - 0:53 - Round 1

4) Sean Pentek (MiKiDo) vs Nick Hanzivasilis (PA Karate Academy)
Welterweight

R1) Hanzivasilis goes for an early takedown but it reversed by Pentek who ends up on top in side control.  Pentek moves to Hanzivasilis' back and attempts an armbar but is rolled into guard.  Hanzivasilis attempts a triangle but Pentek is able to grab his arm and secure a successful armbar right before the bell.

Winner: Sean Pentek - Submission - 2:59 - Round 1

5) Johnny Curtis (One Spirit Martial Arts) vs Michael Lee (Rippers Ultimate Fighting Arts)
Heavyweight

R1) Curtis comes out quickly securing a takedown and moving into side control.  Lee fights off a choke attempt but Curtis stays in dominant positions moving between side and back control eventually catching Lee with a rear naked choke late in the round.

Winner:  Johnny Curtis - Submission - 2:40 - Round 1

6) Steve Turell (Kore Kombat) vs Brad Adams (Smith Tae Kwon Do)
Lightweight

R1) Both fighters come out strong as they trade punches and go to the ground where they scramble back to their feet.  Adams secures a takedown and transitions to mount and then to Turell's back, only to be reversed and have the fight stand back up.  The fighters quickly end up back to the ground, this time with Turell locking in a guillotine choke as Adams attempts to get back to his feet.

Winner:  Steve Turell - Submission - Round 1

7) Tony Sirna (Kore Kombat) vs Brian Van Hoven (Mat Douglas)
Welterweight

R1) Sirna begins the round with a takedown attempt that is blocked.  Back to their feet, Sirna continues to attempt to take Van Hoven down who is able to sprawl and block his attempts.  Round 1 ends with Van Hoven blocking a takedown and maintaining control on the ground until the bell.
R2) Round 2 starts with Sirna taking a kick but finally taking Van Hoven down.  Unfortunately for Sirna, Van Hoven is able to get to his feet and secure his own takedown.  The fighters return to their feet where Van Hoven throws a tip kick followed by a devastating straight left which puts Sirna to the ground where the fight is called.

Winner: Tony Sirna - TKO - 1:30 - Round 2

8) Francisco Salguero (Yamasaki) vs Kenny Tarrant (MMA Institute)
Lightweight

R1) The fighters begin by trading punches before moving into a clinch against the cage.  From there Salguero takes Tarrant down and quickly moves from half guard to mount.  Tarrant is able to use the cage to roll out of it and make it out of the round.
R2) Again the fighters start by trading punches before moving into a clinch on the cage.  Salguero is again able to take Tarrant down, this time landing punches once they hit the ground eventually forcing a stoppage.

Winner: Francisco Salguero - TKO - 1:33 - Round 2

9) Scott Yinling (Kore Kombat) vs Elijah Harshbarger (Gold Medal Grappling)
Middleweight

R1) Harshbarger starts out the match with a takedown that results with him in Yinling's guard.  Yingling manages to reverse positions and tries to transition to side control.  Harshbarger manages to grab a leg during the scramble and forces Yinling to tap.

Winner:  Elijah Harshbarger - Submission - 2:31 - Round 1

10) Muzaffar Abdurakhmanov (Yamasaki) vs Dan Maher (Bears/Mahers Kempo)
Welterweight

R1) Abdurakhmanov manages a quick take down of Maher.  Maher tries to get back to his feet but Abdurakhmanov locks in a guillotine as he stands forcing a tap.

Winner:  Muzaffar Abdurakhmanov - Submission - 0:25 - Round 1

11) Danny Cox (Modern Army Combatives) vs Manny Okorie (Yamasaki)
Middleweight

R1) Both fighters come out swinging.  Cox ducks under a high kick but is taken down as a result.  Okorie ends up on the ground with a loose triangle and a hold on Cox's arm.  Cox fights hard to try and get out, but Okorie is able to sink the triangle in deeper and force a tap.

Winner: Manny Okorie - Submission - 1:46 - Round 1

12) Carl Kline (Kore Kombat) vs Mike Smith (Hybrid Academy of Martial Arts)
Middleweight

R1)  The fighters trade and clinch as the round begins before Kline is able to slam Smith to the ground.  Smith keeps his composure and reverses opting to stand the fight back up.  Smith is able to take Kline down and scores with some diving punches and leg kicks.
R2) Fight quickly goes to the ground with Smith in mount.  Both fighters are able to stay out of trouble this round and reverse a mount.
R3) Both fighters start fast trying to win the last round.  Kline slams Smith again but is eventually rolled off when Smith works his way back to the cage wall.  They clinch and return to the ground where the fight ends.

Winner: Draw

13) Umaer Haq (MiKiDo) vs Eddie Adramski (Kore Kombat)
Lightweight

R1) Adramski shoots in for an early takedown but Haq is able to scramble to his feet.  Adramski shoots in again but is caught in a quick guillotine choke.

Winner: Umear Haq - Submission - 0:23 - Round 1

14) Colliln McCloud (Elite Martial Arts) vs Shane Lavalette (Brandon Millsaps)
Heavyweight

R1) Fighters start in a clinch.  Lavaletter is able to slam McCloud and take side control.  Lavaletter maintains control for the rest of the round.
R2)  Lavaletter comes out striking and is able to score a takedown.  McCloud tries to work out of it but is eventually mounted and the match is called due to strikes.

Winner: Shane Lavalette - TKO - 1:23 - Round 2
