On Saturday, February 23rd Khun Kao Promotions along with the GCA presented the DC Metro Showdown 3.

While less of a polished event then others like Valhalla, the event was a great showcase of some of the talent our area has.

The event featured 12 matches of both MMA and Muay Thai.  While some of the fighters were a little rough around the edges, the event provided some of the newer fighters invaluable ring experience and entertained the standing room only crowd.

My only gripes with the show were on the presentation side.  While I am all for hearing some traditional Thai music every once and a while, I had to listen to it before and during every Muay Thai fight.  Thats nearing on a violation of the Geneva Convention.  I would have preferred to hear the sounds of the fight during the fight and have the fighters choose their own entrance music.  Also, the music and multiple performances of the ram muay during the Muay Thai fights seemed to cause the fans to pay more attention to the MMA matches. 

But overall, for an amateur event you probably arent going to do better then Khun Kao's shows.  The fighters were well matched and the event was well received by the crowd.
